Memory Lane

Feickert Park...it looks SO different now.

Joyschool... those from the Elk Grove Stake might recognize some faces

20 years ago: I was three. My family was (and mostly still are) living in Elk Grove, CA. We moved into the house my parents still live in. I started Joy School (preschool) with a lot of other children in our church.

10 years ago: I was 13 and was starting 8th grade. I met a great friend, Sarah James (now Sarah Pierce), and we’ve been best friends since. We’ve been through so much together.

5 years ago: I had just graduated from high school. I stayed at home for a year (before I was talked into moving to Provo) staying busy going to school, teaching gymnastics and dance, and working for an independent company, Coolstuffvideos.com

2 years ago: Tyler and I got engaged February 2006, after dating for 8 months. I am really glad I was talked into moving to Provo. We met because Tyler was my roommates’ Home Teacher. We got to know each other better when my cousin was interested in Tyler and kept inviting him over to play games and such. Tyler and I started dating though, and we got married in the Oakland, CA Temple on June 30th 2006.

Soaking up the sun

Last Year: Tyler and I got a second car, which made things really convenient. Though I enjoyed riding my bike to and from work in the summer, it was nice to have a car in the winter. Tyler was accepted into the Accounting Program at BYU which was such a relief. It’s so nice to know our future is heading in a good direction.

So far this year: I got a new job working full-time at The UPS Store…that’s pretty much it besides Tyler’s crazy studying hours…but I guess that was happening last year too.

Trikes

Yesterday: We paid off the credit card (from my wisdom teeth…blah) only to put $2000-ish back on it for school. (Our goal is to pay it off in a month and a half because we want to buy trikes this summer (so much fun!!) or new laptops…which would be a more grownup thing to do….)

Today: I woke up at quarter to 8 and went to work. I spent my lunch break at the ring shop to have my wedding ring inspected and cleaned for it’s bi-annual inspection. Fun fun. Then I went to the Dollar Tree and spent lots of money on Easter stuff. I thought I was going to get off work at like 1 or 2, but didn’t leave until 5:30. I was planning on making a great meal for Tyler and I, but ran out of time so we went to Taco Bell instead!

Tomorrow: Will, most likely, be pretty much the same ol'. I’ll work for 9 hours, Tyler actually has the day off school because he’s taking tests this week, so he’ll go into work at 8:30 instead of noon and work until 6 and then come home and study til the wee hours of the night.

This year: Who knows! I think we’ll have even more direction in our life. Tyler will find out if he got into the Masters Program at BYU or if we’ll need to move to do an internship. Lots of changes will occur. Plus we’ll be spending Christmas in CA, which I’m very excited about…as long as I don’t get sick like I always do when I’m home.

I tag my friend Kendra and anyone else who wants to do it.

  3. Sarah... I agree, it is fun to read about what friends have been doing when I haven't seen them in so long. I enjoyed reading yours. I hope Meghan does hers too...cause I haven't seen her since after we graduated.

  4. Rachel... I'm glad you think I look like Jessica Alba. Haha, no one's ever told me that before. I have taken one of those celebrity look alike things though and she was one of the choices, but I don't see it at all, but I also wont be complaining. ^_^

  5. Yay, I found your blog! Severin told me that you guys have one and I told him to get the address, but he never did. Silly man. So yeah...the SP's on our blog are Severin Points. Basically, I type up the post, then he goes through and throws in his two cents. I think my sister reads our blog just for the 2% of it that Severin does. :) As for the EY Extreme, I am planning on taking the bus. And we should definitely meet up and go together--I don't like being alone! :)

  6. I think we're supposed to be there at 3:45. We could do something fun beforehand if you want. We have tickets to the BYU baseball game that day at 1 so we could go for the first part of that or we could go to lunch or go shopping or something...I'll be pretty bored otherwise. :) By the way, what's your e-mail address?? Mine is lissa_nelson@byu.edu
