Songs

I need your help.

I'm trying to remember all those cool songs my parents sang to me when I was younger. (Well, my parents and Sharon, Lois and Bram...anyone else watch that show?)
I want to sing songs to Danica and figured having a list of all sorts of songs will help me branch out from "Waddly Acha" and "Fish and Chips and Vinegar"

Any suggestions?

What songs do you remember from your childhood?

  1. She is still young but mine was Gitty up horsey. I have others but I don't remember right now. I just remember doing so big and things like that. The wheels on the bus you can never go wrong with also.

  2. You can't go wrong with Primary songs. They are the best!

  3. I think primary songs is a good place to start. Also: Wheels on the bus, motor boat(and you can move her legs on that one), old mcdonald, twinkle twinkle little star, monkeys jumping on the bed, itsy bitsy spider. I sometimes sing God Bless the Broken Road by Rascal Flatts since I know all the words. You could sing to her songs from "Wicked" like you and Katie used to sing around the apartment :) Hope this helps.

My girls favorite is "i widdleish". you remember that one? ya gotta do your toung all crazy. And the song that always soothed them was," Love one Another."

  6. I agree with the Primary songs... but I have no idea what songs your parents sang to you!
Songs I sing to my kids are Primary songs, "I'm a nut" or "I'm a little acorn round" (whatever it's called), "Wheels on the Bus" (cause I seriously loved that song in kindergarten), different older songs, like "Scarborough Fair" and "The Water is Wide" and "Billy Boy" and stuff like that. And I sing other songs, too, like "When you Believe" from The Prince of Egypt (it's semi-repetitive, which babies like, but it's also pretty) and the chorus from "The Eye of the Tiger" (Nathan loves that one for some reason.
I also occasionally make up songs, though not as much as I used to when I was up late with little babies trying to get them to go back to sleep. One I still sing to Nathan is "The Ode to the Vacuum". Yeah.
Anyway, sorry for the novel. Hope that helped a little!

  7. i was going to say, "i widilish" song that aunt kim sang to us. larry and i on the way to see you when you had danica were singing the nursrey rhymes. quite morbid, some of them. but i taught him the monkey land song. he's quite obbsessed with getting the sound just right and asks me to sing it a lot. funny stuff. i'll think of more songs and let you know.
